Turkish airports are big and busy, and public Wi-Fi often requires an SMS code or a passport scan. With a Turkey eSIM installed before the flight, you can book your ride and message home before you reach baggage claim.

When you land

  1. Turn off airplane mode.
  2. Check that the eSIM is your mobile-data line and that data roaming is on for it.
  3. The phone connects to Vodafone or Türk Telekom within moments; if not, switch airplane mode off and on.

Istanbul Airport (IST)

The M11 metro line connects the airport with the city’s metro network, and Havaist airport buses run to many districts. Taxis wait outside arrivals; BiTaksi and Uber can also book them.

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW)

On the Asian side, the M4 metro line runs from the airport towards Kadıköy, and Havabüs airport buses serve central areas.

Antalya (AYT) and Izmir (ADB)

Taxis, airport shuttles and transfer services are the usual way to resorts from Antalya. Izmir airport has a suburban rail station with trains into the city. Ride and taxi apps work on your eSIM data.

Transport cards

In Istanbul, public transport uses the Istanbulkart, sold and topped up at machines in stations.
