From the ferries and bazaars of Istanbul to balloon flights over Cappadocia and boat trips on the Turquoise Coast, Turkey is easier with data on your phone: maps across two continents, taxi apps, tour bookings and camera translation of menus. A Turkey eSIM connects you as soon as you land — no airport SIM desk and no passport registration.

What a Turkey eSIM is

An eSIM is a digital SIM profile you install by scanning a QR code. Our Turkey plans are data-only; your home SIM stays active for calls and texts. Because a travel eSIM connects as an international roaming line, it is not affected by Turkey’s IMEI registration rules for local SIM cards — see our IMEI guide.

Check your phone first

The phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. Most iPhones from the XR and XS onwards, Google Pixel 3 and newer and Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer support eSIM. On an iPhone look for Add eSIM in Settings › Cellular; on any phone, dialing *#06# shows an EID if eSIM is supported.

Networks and coverage

Turkey eSIM plans connect to Vodafone and, on many plans, Türk Telekom. Expect fast 4G in cities, resort towns and along main roads, and 5G where the networks offer it. Remote mountains and some boat trips have weak or no signal. Turkey plans route data through the Netherlands or France, shown as the IP location on each plan page.

How much data to buy

About 1 GB per day covers maps, taxi apps, messaging and social media for most visitors — see the Turkey data guide.

Installing your eSIM

  1. Install at home on Wi-Fi — the plan only starts when you first connect in Turkey.
  2. iPhone: Settings › Cellular › Add eSIM › Use QR Code. Android: Settings › Connections (or Network) › SIM manager › Add eSIM. Scan the QR code from your email.
  3. Label the line “Turkey”, choose it for mobile data and keep your home SIM for calls and texts.
  4. Turn on data roaming for the eSIM line; keep data roaming off on your home SIM.

Quick fixes

  • No data: check roaming and the mobile-data line, then restart the phone.
  • Weak signal: choose Vodafone or Türk Telekom manually in network settings.
  • Still stuck: contact us with your order email — we reply within 24 hours.
